Pegasus Opera Company has three pillars to the organisation. Click to find out more how you can support each of these areas of our work.
By supporting Pegasus Opera Company’s community and education programme you will be providing a learning experience for people of all ages across London and the UK.
Your gift will help us inspire children and young people to pursue composition and singing, helping them build confidence, self expression and introduce them to opera for the first time.
Supporting our work will help young people from diverse backgrounds access quality music education.
You can help us build on digital innovations designed during the pandemic, enabling students to collaborate on song-writing, exploring issues important to their mental health, for example their worries about reconnecting with school life. You will be helping Pegasus deliver a creative curriculum that supports children who have suffered from lost learning. You will be investing in a strong and powerful change programme: The Cecily Northcote Trust highlighted Pegasus as ‘an organisation that delivers high quality and meaningful arts activity'.
By supporting our talent work, you will assist us in our work to highlight emerging and aspiring talent from diverse artists and provide progressive pathways into the heart of the opera and performing arts industry.
Your contribution will directly support a talent development programme that nurtures, coaches and mentors voice artists through bespoke professional interventions. You could be supporting masterclasses with internationally-renowned accomplished artists; or valuable sessions about audition technique and career development.
Your gift will have a direct impact by helping us secure performance opportunities to ensure this wonderful diverse talent finds its way to prominent stages, productions and eminent companies, re-balancing which artists and repertoire are seen and heard.
Pegasus needs your generous support in continuing its vital work championing artists of African and Asian heritage. Pegasus has a remarkable heritage of making captivating opera productions and commissioning significant new works. Pegasus produced Joplin’s Treemonisha to strong critical acclaim, a work that toured to London’s South Bank, the Everyman Cheltenham and many other well-loved venues.
Since its inception, the Company has performed many high profile productions including Koanga (Delius) at Sadlers’ Wells; Porgy and Bess (Gershwin) at the Barbican; Treemonisha (Joplin) at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank; Shaw Goes Wilde(Hagemann) at the Susie Sainsbury Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music; and Mami Wata in 2021 at the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House.
Our next big project is Windrush, The Opera, sharing the stories of the wonder and ambition of those families arriving in the UK from the Caribbean and charting the challenges and adventures creating roots in the UK. There are opportunities for you to support all elements of this new premiere, which will enjoy extensive touring and the highest profile across the UK.
If you would like to help us maintain our proud history in making such repertoire that includes both traditional and contemporary opera, please consider a gift to support a major production.
