Pegasus Opera Company and Brixton Chamber Orchestra return with the much-loved annual Opera Gala, a spectacular open-air celebration of opera in the heart of Kennington.
Set against the beautiful Georgian surroundings of Cleaver Square, this year’s Gala brings together a 55-piece orchestra, outstanding soloists and a mass community chorus for an unforgettable evening of some of opera’s most thrilling and best-loved music. Audiences can look forward to highlights from Turandot, Die Fledermaus and Candide, alongside works by Philip Hagemann, Richard Wagner, Gioachino Rossini, Johann Strauss II, Giacomo Puccini and Leonard Bernstein.
Whether you’re a lifelong opera lover or experiencing it live for the very first time, Opera Gala offers a joyful and accessible introduction to the art form. With soaring voices, powerful orchestral music and captivating storytelling performed beneath the summer sky, this annual event celebrates the power of music to bring communities together.
This year’s Opera Gala is a pay-what-you-can event. As registered charities, Pegasus Opera Company and Brixton Chamber Orchestra rely on the generosity of audiences and supporters to continue creating exceptional musical experiences and widening access to classical music for communities across London. Every donation helps support our ongoing work.
Please note: This is an outdoor standing event. Audience members are welcome to bring blankets or folding chairs, as well as picnics, refreshments and drinks to enjoy during the performance.
