Pegasus Opera Company presents their National Tour of Windrush The Journey, paying tribute to the Windrush generation, showcasing a rich tapestry of music and storytelling, and celebrating Black classical composers: past, present and future.

Through the outstanding music of Chevalier de Saint-Georges, Richard Thompson and Des Oliver – three composers who represent different eras of Black history – Pegasus honours the legacy of the Windrush generation with an exciting fusion of classical music, steel pan, jazz and blues.

I was not sure what to expect, never thought I would see opera let alone learn the black influence that was in this. It made me feel so proud and that it is okay to be black and love the arts and enjoy opera, something seen as a white privileged event that we seldom get to see.

The show was incredible, I was nervous about a classical music performance but everything was done so well and everyone on stage carried us along, I was swept up in it! Such wonderful music, talent and storytelling.
